Electrician

Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in accordance with local and national electrical codes
• Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers, to identify hazards and defects
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions using appropriate testing devices
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to determine the layout of electrical systems
• Install electrical wiring, conduit, and fixtures
• Collaborate with other construction professionals to ensure electrical systems are properly integrated into the overall project
• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work area
• The ability to flex their handyperson skills to address camp maintenance items

Skills:

• Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for electrical work
• Strong knowledge of industrial electrician practices and procedures
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
• Experience in building and installing electrical systems in residential, commercial, or industrial settings
• Familiarity with low voltage systems and their installation requirements
• Knowledge of electrical codes and regulations to ensure compliance with safety standards
• Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve electrical issues efficiently

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Journeyman Electrician
• Valid driver’s license, CSTS, OSSA or OSSA BSO
• H2S Alive, 1st Aid, Fall Protection and Aerial Platform Certifications would be an asset
• Proven field service experience
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair and service technical electrical equipment
• Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules
• Must have excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Must be organized and have the ability to prioritize daily workload
• Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy
• A mature work ethic with strong interpersonal and customer service skills
• A willingness to learn, be proactive and to be a team player
• Willingness to work in the Ft McMurray area and live in remote camps, working a rotational schedule
• Must be able to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test
