Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment in accordance with local and national electrical codes
- Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers, to identify hazards and defects
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical malfunctions using appropriate testing devices
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to determine the layout of electrical systems
- Install electrical wiring, conduit, and fixtures
- Collaborate with other construction professionals to ensure electrical systems are properly integrated into the overall project
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work area
- The ability to flex their handyperson skills to address camp maintenance items
Skills:
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for electrical work
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrician practices and procedures
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Experience in building and installing electrical systems in residential, commercial, or industrial settings
- Familiarity with low voltage systems and their installation requirements
- Knowledge of electrical codes and regulations to ensure compliance with safety standards
- Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve electrical issues efficiently
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Journeyman Electrician
- Valid driver’s license, CSTS, OSSA or OSSA BSO
- H2S Alive, 1st Aid, Fall Protection and Aerial Platform Certifications would be an asset
- Proven field service experience
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair and service technical electrical equipment
- Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules
- Must have excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Must be organized and have the ability to prioritize daily workload
- Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy
- A mature work ethic with strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- A willingness to learn, be proactive and to be a team player
- Willingness to work in the Ft McMurray area and live in remote camps, working a rotational schedule
- Must be able to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test
