Job Description
Scope
The Electrician will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems within the hotel premises. This role involves performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of electrical equipment and systems to minimize downtime and ensure the safety of guests and staff.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Majority of work is performed in public space and must ensure work is performed in a respectful, organized and tidy manner.
- Conduct routine inspections and checks of electrical systems to confirm operation and identify and address potential issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks on electrical equipment and systems.
- Respond to electrical issues and breakdowns, troubleshooting to identify root causes.
- Perform electrical repairs and installations as per electrical safety code and regulations.
- Collaborate with other departments in the hotel to coordinate electrical work associated with minor renovations or new installations.
- Perform all work in safe manner, conduct hazard assessments and follow hazard mitigation strategies, and wear required PPE.
- Implement and maintain a comprehensive electrical safety program.
- Conduct regular safety checks on electrical equipment and systems.
- Communicate effectively with hotel management regarding the status of electrical projects and issues.
- Assist with material and parts selections, ordering and maintaining parts inventories.
- Assist with project planning and execution.
- Work with trade contractors as required.
- Maintain tidy and organized electrical rooms.
Qualifications
Physical Demands
- Requires significant walking and standing
- Significant bending, kneeling, crouching, stretching, reaching above and below shoulder height, twisting
- Frequent climbing of stairs
- Frequent climbing of stools and ladders
- Frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 22 pounds / 10 kg
- Occasional lifting of items weighing up to 50 pounds / 23 kg
- Working indoors and outdoors
- May be required to work in enclosed spaces
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
- Journeyman Electrician Certificate
- 5 years of electrician experience, residential & commercial
- Light industrial experience is an asset
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel)
- Able to meet the physical demands
- Demonstrates a mechanical aptitude
- Keen attention to detail and high working standards
- Able to work effectively independently and as part of a team
