Electrician - Journeyperson

Both experience and the technical knowledge to apply your trade in maintenance of electrical systems related to HVAC, lighting, and kitchen equipment, generators and fire systems. This candidate will be able to communicate effectively and professionally with both guests and colleagues, respond to requests in a timely manner, and assist in achieving the Departmental and Hotel goals.

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the Lead Hand Electrician, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

• Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
• Follow departmental policies, procedures and service standards
• Responsible for all electrical related trade work at the Fairmont Banff Spring
• Responsible for all high & low voltage distribution and equipment
• Responsible for testing and maintaining the fire alarm system
• Maintain & repair all automatic control systems
• Responsible for outdoor and street lighting and bulb changing of street lights
• Will have to do installation of new systems as and when required
• Responsible for the repair and maintenance of all electrical appliances
• Responsible for the preventive maintenance of equipment pertaining to electrical trade
• Will make certain that all work done in the department is in compliance with federal and provincial codes and regulations
• Ensure all work orders assigned will be done with the least possible delay, especially where guest comfort is concerned
• Responsible to train and assist the shift maintenance persons to carry out their duties in a safe and efficient manner
• Assist other trades as they relate to electrical maintenance
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including time and materials used
• You will be working in our hotel guest areas and within maintenance program
• Adhere to the hotel’s vehicle handling and safety policies while driving hotel vehicles
• Adhere to all safety protocols as defined by Occupational Health and Safety and Trade
• Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures, and report any safety hazards or incidents immediately
• Able to work flexible hours and weekends according to business levels and/or emergencies
• Other duties as assigned

Your experience and skills include:

• Certified Electrician under the Apprenticeship and Tradesmen Qualification Act or equivalent experience
• Strong working knowledge and ability to repair the electrical system
• Valid Canadian’s Drivers licence
• Experience in the service industry in electrical maintenance
• High voltage distribution experience an asset
• Fire alarm system experience an asset
• Knowledge of automatic controls required
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and problem solving abilities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
• Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimum supervision
• Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
• Manual dexterity and physical ability to lift up to 25 kg
