Job description

North East Native Advancing Society (NENAS), a non-profit organization, has been developing and delivering economic and social development Programs for over 30 years in Northeastern BC. We offer holistic, wraparound services to our First Nations and Urban communities.

At NENAS we believe that our people and culture are our strongest assets. NENAS supports our communities, clients, and employers. We are looking for an energetic and keen individual to join our team as the Employment Assistance Services (EAS).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide solution-oriented employment or post-secondary education assistance.
  • Case File Management, services including intake assessments and evaluations.
  • Entering information and maintaining client data into Accountability and Resource Management System (ARMS).
  • Meet with clients to obtain employment history, educational background and career goals.
  • Assess client’s needs by identifying barriers to employment and assist clients with job readiness, job search strategies, writing resumes, and preparing for job interviews and maintaining employment, or furthering their education through post-secondary institutions.
  • Compiling and maintaining up-to-date career, Labour Market and employment readiness resources to assist clients with applying for job openings, entry and skill requirements and other occupational information.
  • Refers and connects our clients for further and/or alternate services within our communities.
  • Participation in job fairs in Fort St. John, Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson, and our local First Nation communities.

The successful candidate should possess:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education; post-secondary degree or qualification in career-counselling or within the field of career education (CCDP), with at least two (2) yearsof employment counselling and/or case file management experience. Acombination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Travel may be required to our office in Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson, and to our local First Nation communities.
  • Exceptional customer service delivery and client centered-care.
  • Solid written and verbal communication.
  • Committed to achieving goals and objectives.
  • Critical thinking skills, judgment, discretion and maintain strict confidentiality, with good organizational, time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Adhere to professional standards and best practices.
  • A clean Criminal Record Check – Vulnerable Sector Check (completed upon hiring) will be required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of First Nations culture is an asset.
