About The Position: The Employment Counselor works with a diverse range of individuals to assist them in preparing for, obtaining, and maintaining sustainable employment. This is achieved through using an integrated case management approach, formal needs assessment, employment counseling developing action plans, job search support and administering financial supports when needed.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Client Needs Assessment:
- Conduct a guided interview with clients to determine needs and strengths and identify barriers.
- Referals for Specialized Assessments, or to external Community Service providers, as needed.
- Identify self-sufficient clients who are ready to access job search or career decision making independently and refer to self-serve services.
Action Plan Development:
- Work with clients to develop action plan and realistic activities and goals.
- Determine clients' needs and eligibility for financial supports.
- Monitor clients progress and revise action plan as required.
Employment Counselling:
- Support clients who have barriers and varying abilities to achieve employment goals, utilizing assessments, workshops and Career Counselling skills and strategies.
- Develop respectful and collaborative relationships with clients.
Facilitation:
- Facilitate develop and or adapt curriculum for employment related workshops. Workshops are delivered 1 on 1 or in a group setting.
Qualifications:
- Post secondary degree or diploma such as: Social Services or Human Services Certificate
- Demonstrated experience providing services and supports to individuals with complex barriers.
- Ability to work independently, or as part of a team.
- Excellent technical skills in MS Word and client management software.
Note: May consider equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Compensation and Benefits Package:
- Starting Wage $27.05 per hour 37.5 hours per week
- Vacation allowance starting at 3 weeks per year.
- Additional paid holidays including 13 statutory holidays per year.

Working hours are Monday -Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
