Job Summary:
Discovery House Supportive Addiction Recovery Homes for Men is seeking a dedicated, passionate, and skilled individual to join our successful team in Penticton, BC. The work will be with men who have completed a 90-day addiction recovery program and are looking for work opportunities while rebuilding their lives. One-on-one and group support will be required. Work will be based at one of our residences, but may involve work in other areas of Penticton. Valid Class-5 drivers license is required, and use of personal vehicle is preferred. Experience in the addiction recovery field or lived experience with addiction and 3+ years of continuous sobriety is an asset.
Responsibilities:
- Assess clients' vocational needs, abilities, and interests through interviews, assessments, and evaluations
- Develop personalized vocational rehabilitation plans for clients based on their individual goals and needs
- Educate clients on available resources, services, and programs to support their vocational development
- Provide counselling and guidance to clients to address barriers and challenges in achieving their vocational goals
- Collaborate with employers, educational institutions, and other service providers to facilitate job placement and training opportunities for clients
- Monitor clients' progress and make necessary adjustments to their rehabilitation plans as needed
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of client interactions, assessments, and progress reports
- Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in vocational rehabilitation
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with clients
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to educate and provide guidance to individuals with disabilities
- Proficient in recruiting, interviewing, and assessing individuals' skills and abilities
- Knowledge of training development principles and techniques.
Position Requirements:
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Employment Counselling, Vocational Rehabilitation, Social Work or similarly related field
- Competence with word processing, spreadsheet applications and general knowledge of online education platforms.
