As an Intermediate Energy Modeller, you will be providing energy performance consulting for new and existing buildings focused on making buildings more energy efficient and sustainable. You have a technical background with building design and construction, are a strong communicator and passionate about continuous learning. You are a team player, focused on delivering projects on time and on budget.
- Energy analysis and building performance simulations for projects of various types across Canada.
- Design of building systems and the use of energy modelling software (eQUEST and IESVE).
- Provide guidance on energy modelling to other project team members.
- Update energy simulations as the design phase progresses and provide technical analysis and support during the construction phase.
- Strong writing and communication skills are essential in order to prepare the required reports and to engage with clients and authorities effectively.
- Participate in design meetings and assist the design team with achieving energy efficiency targets such as LEED certification, Zero Carbon and Passive House.
- Assist with energy assessments for existing facilities including walk-through audits, regression analysis and calibrated energy models.
- University degree or college diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field is required
- 2- 4 years of experience in building systems engineering, building physics, thermodynamics and advanced building energy analysis
- Proficient in using advanced building energy modelling tools (eQuest and IESVE)
- Experience with EnergyPlus considered an asset
- Proficient in using HVAC load calculation tools (HAP or equivalent)
- Experience working with different computer programming tools considered an asset
- Proficient in building mechanical systems design and operation, building physics, thermodynamics and advanced building energy analysis
- Proficient in interpreting information from engineering design drawings and documentation
- Proficient in conducting advanced work and preparing analytical reports under the Team Leader’s guidance and supervision
- Self-driven to gain competency in leading, coaching, and supervising staff with lower levels of responsibility and lesser qualification or experience with the Team Leader’s guidance
- Good communication skills – both written and verbal
