Job Title:Energy Training Specialist

Reports to: Manager, Energy and Equity Initiatives

Number of Positions: 1

Hours: 35 per week (full-time, permanent position)

Location: Flexible Location, NS

Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000

Anticipated Start Date: March 4, 2024

Summary of the Program:

The Indigenous Employment Program is designed to connect Indigenous job seekers with prospective employers in high demand sectors of our clean economy. To do so, it combines direct training and job placement, wage subsidy supports, community-based education and engagement, and networking opportunities through job fairs and targeted relationship building. As we help to build Nova Scotia's clean economy, we recognize our responsibility to ensure that everyone has access to the growing number of education and employment opportunities.

Summary of the Position:

Help Clean prepare our newest trainees in the clean energy sector as our Energy Advisor Training Specialist. Reporting to the Manager, Energy and Equity Initiatives, in this role you’ll play a critical role in delivering synchronous and asynchronous training for Clean’s Energy Advisor Training Program to Indigenous applicants across Nova Scotia. You’ll help to provide a team of Junior Energy Advisor candidates with the knowledge, skills and equipment required to succeed as employees within EnerGuide Service Organizations across the province. As an experienced educator, workshop leader or facilitator, you will be responsible to deliver high-quality skills training programs for program participants. math concepts related to construction, building science, heating, cooling and ventilation systems, and job readiness.

Responsibilities:

- Facilitate and deliver engaging, participatory workshops for cohorts of Energy Advisor Trainees, using digital webinar and engagement tools as needed.
- Collect and analyze feedback from workshop participants to better future workshop delivery.
- Support the Workforce Development team in additional reporting or administrative needs as required.
- Lead monthly in-person Energy Advisor training workshops.
- Organize third party testing through Natural Resources Canada’s regional testing partners.
- Assist Junior Energy Advisor candidates with day-to-day learning needs, including coordination of specialized barrier relief supports.
- Demonstrate use of common techniques and technologies used in residential energy evaluation and modelling.
- Coordinate in-field mentorship opportunities between Junior Energy Advisor candidates and members of the energy team.
- Work with service organizations across Nova Scotia to create connections between program participants and prospective employers.
- Attend networking events, job fairs and conferences as a means of promoting Energy Training initiatives and building interest in employment opportunities in the clean economy.

Qualifications:

- Confidence in an educational support setting, using best practices in education and facilitation to understand participants’ diverse needs to support them through the program.
- Capable of effectively communicating complex technical concepts to a broad audience of learners.
- Must be very comfortable with STEM concepts. A background in contracting, building science etc., would be an asset.
- Experience facilitating or leading workshops, including working with diverse groups and experience with digital workshop delivery considered an asset.
- Basic project management training or one plus years related experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in workforce development, green jobs training or employment skills training.
- Excellent prioritization skills and respect for deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented approach
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Comfortable and familiar with digital webinar delivery platforms.
- French language abilities considered an asset.
- Positive, outgoing and able to work independently or in a team.

Working Conditions:

This role will be a combination of remote and in-office hours which will require work on a computer for extended periods of time. Additional hours, or time outside of the normal work hours, may be required to meet operational requirements of planning and delivering specific projects at specific times of the year. Occasional travel may be required for this role. Moderate lifting may be required, not to exceed 50lbs.
