Working as a Safety Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the planning and commissioning of Functional Safety related engineering projects in Process Industries Mannheim, Germany.In this role, you support and coordinate planning and commissioning activities and make technical recommendations in various phases of customer projects to ensure successful delivery of project deliverables on time, within budget and in line with quality and safety guidelines.

Your responsibilities
- Technical responsibility for the planning and implementation of system solutions in safety related projects (e.g. PLC programming in the ABB environment: 800xA, AC 800PEC, AC500-S, AC800M HI)
- Assisting project managers and project lead engineers in technical reviews and discussions with customers, partners, subcontractors and vendors
- Creating and delivering the work plan and budget, as well as risk assessments relevant to your engineering discipline
- Helping customers resolve technical issues both remotely and at customer sites in Germany and Europe
- Supporting sales and project management with your technical expertise in detailed planning in discussions with customers, partners and service providers
- Maintaining and enhancing customer satisfaction by providing excellent service at all stages of the project
- Collaborate and network with colleagues, distributing proven solutions
- Apply and improve standards and strategies to ensure effective project delivery
Your background
- Experience in Functional Safety related projects working as a Safety Engineer implementing the processes defined in the old Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) and new Machinery Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2023/1230)
- Sound knowledge of engineering techniques, processes, and tools, including knowledge in several Safety related Standards such as EN ISO 12100, EN ISO 13849 and EN IEC 62061
- Experience with projects in metal processing industries, paper production, test benches or mining is desirable
- A strong focus on safe work practices and dedication to following all relevant workplace safety guidelines
- A high level of self-motivation, curiosity and desire to learn about new technologies
- A collaborative, solution-focused approach, and strong written and spoken communication skills
- A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field
