The Mining Engineer in training will learn surface mine engineering activities including design, planning and scheduling. CST Coal will provide mentorship and training for this individual specific to this role.

ACCOUNTABILITY
This position reports to the Superintendent of Mine Engineering. This individual will be creating the weekly mine plan each week through collaboration with geology, survey, and mine operations departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES & PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
The Mining or Geological Engineer in Training is responsible for or planning, projects, design, etc. as the business needs dictate.
- Responsible for preparation tactical and short range plans.
- Responsible for bench, blast pattern, dump and access road designs
- Responsible for the month end reconciliation
- Responsible for communicating effectively with Mine Operations, Geology, technical groups and Surveyors to ensure that development and implementation of the mine plan maximizes productivity and personnel safety.
- Perform other related duties as required.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a Mining Engineering Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- 0-5 Years of experience with a preference on coal mining and/or short term planning experience.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

- Knowledge of OH&S Mining Regulations and related legislation
- Well-developed knowledge and ability in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation computer applications including commercial 3D mining software and AutoCAD. Experience with MineSight® is preferred.

- Excellent planning and organizational skills with a strong ability to conceptualize

Wage and Benefits
This position will be on 12-hour days, 7 days on / 7days off (straight days) schedule.
