The Engineering Technician III is responsible for carrying out project supervision and administration of construction projects, supervising the workflow of Engineering Technician I's and II's in the division. The Engineering Technician III will also be responsible for planning and controlling projects using project and cost management techniques to improve productivity using lean manufacturing techniques. The Engineering Technician III provides technical guidance, instruction, and support to infrastructure staff and other clinical staff in the acquisition, operation, repair, and maintenance of equipment. This is accomplished through feedback, in-services, consultation etc. to ensure staff use the appropriate technology in an effective manner. The Engineering Technician III may also be involved with creating and revising preventative maintenance schedules as required on building systems and equipment. The Engineering Technician also performs standardized testing and maintenance on specialized medical/facilities equipment, oversees and assists in the installation of building systems and medical computerized equipment in accordance to established standards, and provides on-going performance assurance testing of medical/facilities equipment in an effective and consistent manner. All work orders and report must meet accreditation standards.
The Engineering Technician III ensures engineering firms adhere to the approved specifications, requirements, construction schedules, progress reporting, safety measures and related details for construction projects, and conducts periodic site inspections on work in progress and the final inspection of projects. The Engineering Technician III is involved in the selection and requisition process for building system equipment, as well as the development of tender specifications documents for the procurement of new technologies & qualifying tender bids. Job Qualifications
Completion of an approved three-year Industrial Engineering Technology Diploma is required.
Minimum of five years of experience within the last seven working as an Engineering Technologist is required
Experience in a construction or design environment is an asset
Knowledge of industrial engineering principles and process designs
Knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical systems used in the construction of institutional-type buildings.
Ability to read and interpret both paper and electronic blueprints and to draft drawings using AutoCad software.
Ability to work collaboratively with contractors, service technicians and internal staff
Demonstrated strong leadership and project management skills.
Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to prioritize and meet critical timelines within budget.
Demonstrated advanced communication and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to recognize hazards and to work safely around building equipment.
