Job description

Bighorn Mining Ltd is seeking an Environmental and Permitting Coordinatorfor the Vista Mine. This is a full-time position based in Hinton, AB. This position will involve technical report writing, developing and coordinating permit applications and ensuring site compliance. The ideal candidate will have an educational background in an engineering or science field, be self motivated and have excellent written and oral communication skills. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the development of permit applications and prepare and submit technical reports to applicable government agencies
  • Understand current permits, approvals, management plans, and associated regulatory requirements
  • Develop and review various compliance reports and environmental management plans
  • Analyze field and analytical data to prepare various reports and applications for submission internally and to government agencies
  • Prepare Auto CAD drawings and information required for applications and approvals
  • Provide technical and administrative coordination throughout the permitting process
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors and engineering staff
  • Assist with field samples and inspections as required
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/SKILLREQUIREMENT

  • University or collage degree in related engineering or science field preferred; other related education and experience will be considered
  • Specific knowledge and experiencing permitting under the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act, the Water Act, Public Lands Act and the Coal Conservation Act
  • Strong analytical, problem–solving and decision-making abilities, excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience developing applications on both a provincial and federal level.
  • Experience in preparing, coordinating and tracking permitting applications in the resource development industry
  • Auto CAD experience an asset
  • Ability to work independently and to work as a team
  • Ability to meet tight turnaround times, and work to tight deadlines
  • Skilled at working with Microsoft office, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Working experience within environmental services is a huge asset.

· Ability to adapt to change and be flexible.
