DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Preparing estimates for the manufacture of parts, components & assemblies including material, labour, QAQC & submit documentation
Review & clearly understand customer scope, specifications, & required quality standards
Gather material estimates from sub vendors
Gather quotes/pricing from external service providers
Effectively estimate labour required for manufacturing, including fitting & welding operations, machining, & mechanical assembly for custom fabrications as well as low volume production runs
Work w/ engineering & customers to develop mechanical designs & solutions to properly estimate the component; finalize & submit quotations to customers
Translate customer requirements into technical proposals
Develop manufacturing process steps in conjunction w/ supervisors & planner; estimate labour run times
Compile quotations using supplied material costing & pricing from vendors
Participate in establishing selling prices & policies to support the department business plan
Maintain an active review of competitors to insure competitive marketing practices
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Post-secondary education / tradesperson w/ industry experience
Min of 3 years of estimating experience in the steel fabrication industry / equivalent industry experience
Familiar w/ CWB W47.1 & W59, ASME code & mechanical design calculations
Familiar w/ metal fabrication & welding processes, as well as blueprint reading
Working knowledge of SolidWorks & AutoCAD
Working knowledge of Global Shop / other manufacturing ERP software
Experience in the mining industry considered an asset
Valid Drivers license
