The Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board invites applications for the Facilities and Health & Safety Officer.
This position is an integral member of the facilities department, responsible to assist with the day-to-day efficient and safe operation of all school sites and the board office facilities. This position is also responsible for organizational safety management, and Safety training/programs. The successful incumbent will work with the Manager of Assessment and Plant to plan, develop, implement, and maintain procedures within the organization that eliminates and minimizes any accidents and/or health exposures, ensures organizational compliance with the Ontario Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and any other legislation/regulations.
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:
● Post-secondary education in Facilities Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Project Management or equivalent is required;
● A professional designation as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional, Certified Safety Professional, Registered Occupational Hygienist, or Certified Industrial Hygienist is preferred;
● Minimum of three (3) years of related experience specifically in the development and implementation of Health and Safety programs within a unionized environment;
● Expert knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations, with an understanding of the role of Health and Safety in the education sector;
● Knowledge of the Safe Drinking Water Act and its regulations, with experience in water sample collection for outside analysis;
● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
● Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member;
● Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy with the ability to prioritize and multitask;
● Proficient computer skills utilizing Google Workspace; and
● Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation is required; must travel to school sites.
