New Boundaries Yard Maintenance job position is a position of support to all the social enterprises that are operated through New Boundaries.
Responsibilities for the Yard Maintenance Associate is working in the sorting room include the following but not limited to
Maintaining the yard keeping it clean and organized at all times.
o Summer Yard Maintenance is done
o Lawn mowing is done on a regular rotation
o Keeping all walk-ways clear of snow, debris and obstacles
o Picking up any garbage that is laying around the yard
Bringing donations in and putting them in the Sorting room bins.
o Ensuring that the sorting room is always full of donations to be sorted
Putting garbage in the dumpster
o Helping when extra tipping of the dumpster
o Going to the dump when necessary
o Ensure that the garbage is taken out at the end of day e
Setting up the E-waste
o Place E-Waste pallet out for drop offs
o Place E-Waste bag out for smaller E-Waste items
o Keeping the E-Waste organized in the yard
o Wrapping E-Waste pallet when it is full
o Ensuring E-Waste Pallet and E-Waste bag is put away at the end of the day
o Helping with large drop offs of E-Waste from the school board
o Helping out with E-Waste pick-ups from EPRA
Unlocking the Furniture Barn, C-Cans, Yellow Building
o Ensuring the Furniture Barn, C-Cans and Yellow Building are locked at the end of the day
o Ensuring the Furniture Barn and C-Cans are organized
Ensuring there is always water for the Water dispenser and picking up water from the store.
Helping out in the woodshop when needed
o Delivering pallets of wood to wholesale customers
Helping in the sorting room when the yard is not busy
o Help testing items in the sorting room
Helping Amigo’s customers with large items that are purchased to put in their vehicles
Helping with Home Services, service calls
Maintain a clean driving record
o Using the forklift carefully and responsibly
o Ensuring that all health and safety precautions are followed when working with and around the forklift
o Refueling vehicles and ensuring that the truck does not go below ¼ of a tank of gas when in use
o Vehicle checks and maintenance
Helping with Eastlink deliveries and pick-ups
Helping in Amigo’s if needed
Returning recyclables
All other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Have good communication skills
Have the ability to follow directions
Have the ability to lift 50 pounds
Have a clean driving abstract
Be willing to become a certified forklift operator
Be responsible and work in a team environment
Demonstrate flexible, efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload
Work Environment; Day/Hour Requirements:
New Boundaries operates some of its social enterprises 7 days a week. Therefore, New Boundaries Yard Maintenance staff member will be working flexible shifts from the following schedule:
o Sunday —12:00 pm—5 pm
o Monday — 8:30 am—4 pm
o Tuesday — 8:30 am—4 pm
o Wednesday — 8:30 am—4 pm
o Thursday — 8;30 am—4 pm
o Friday — 8;30 am—4 pm
o Saturday — 9:00 am—5 pm
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Salary: $16.00-$17.50 per hour
Expected hours: 28 – 35 per week
