About us:
The Family Care Office (FCO) provides confidential guidance, resources, referrals, educational programming and advocacy for the University of Toronto community and their families. We raise awareness of Family Care issues central to the achievement of education and employment equity at the University of Toronto. We support current University of Toronto students, staff, faculty, post-doctoral fellows and their families with any Family Care related issue. Your opportunity:
This position will require a high degree of professionalism, customer service, and commitment to student, staff, and faculty Family Care issues.
In this role, you will be providing advising to both students and staff on a range of family issues (pregnancy, parental, and caregiving leaves) and on flexible work arrangements due to family concerns. This advising will occur at all 3 campus locations (UTM, UTSC and St. George). You will also be responsible for planning, designing and implementing the educational programming for the Family Care Office. Lastly, you will be responsible for carrying out a social media strategy for the Family Care Office and Faculty Relocation Service, coordinating an e-newsletter, maintaining and developing two websites, and maintaining a small library.
The Family Care Office is an equity office at the University of Toronto.
Your responsibilities will include:
-Advising students and/or staff on personal and Family Care issues by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences
-Planning components of educational programs and/or course design
-Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives
-Developing and implementing communication plans that support strategic objectives
-Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials
-Creating and maintaining presence on social media platforms
-Coordinating website updates and ensuring technical issues are resolved
-Keeping well-informed on library policies, regulations and technology
 
Essential Qualifications:
-Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. social work, social sciences, higher education, or adult education) or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Minimum four years.
-Demonstrated knowledge of family concerns, child care or elder care including casework and advising preferably in a University setting for 4 years.
-Experience with coordinating and teaching workshops or webinars.
-Demonstrated understanding of student development theories, co-curricular programming and assessment methodologies.
-Proven understanding of effective communication strategies in an education setting.
-Excellent communication, writing, organizational, problem solving and supervisory skills.
-Proficiency in MS Office, Word Press, social media, remote applications such as MS Teams or Zoom, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Assets (Nonessential):
-Master’s degree or working towards a Master’s is an asset.
-Experience with AMS, SPSS,Adobe Connect and Canva an asset.
-At least 2 years experience working in an equity environment strongly preferred.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 13 -- $83,150 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $106,336. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
