Zodiac Hurricane Technologies Inc., a leader in the manufacturing of Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIB), is seeking a Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) Boat Technician (Junior) for its Delta, BC location. With a global presence and a commitment to excellence, we provide high-quality, innovative RIBs to various industries including military, law enforcement, search and rescue, and commercial sectors.

Job Summary

As a Fiber Reinforced Plastic Technician, you will be part of the team for the fabrication, repair, and finishing of products made from Fiber Reinforced Plastic and carbon materials. Your primary tasks will involve working with FRP materials, performing composite lay-ups, and applying gel and finishing techniques to achieve high-quality and visually appealing products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a simple hand lay-up, ensuring proper alignment and thickness of materials.
  • Apply mask and prepare surfaces for gel coating.
  • Apply resin and reinforcement materials in accordance with industry standards.
  • Prepare surfaces for repair by cleaning, sanding, polishing and filling imperfections.
  • Able to remove and apply anti-fouling.
  • Able to work using hands and power tools.
  • Assist in troubleshooting.
  • Assist in placing the boat on jack stands and cradles.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational or technical training in FRP fabrication and painting is a plus.
  • Proven experience working with fiber-Reinforced Plastic and carbon materials and painting techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Fluent in reading, writing and speaking English.
  • Familiar with the use of basic hand tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Capable of working with hazardous chemicals.
  • Capable of problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment with the capability of lifting a minimum of 23 kgs (50 lbs) regularly and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Steel-toe safety boots are required.
  • WHMIS training is an asset.
  • Working in a manufacturing or production facility is preferred.
