The Research and Development – Field Technicianis responsible for sample collection, troubleshooting, maintenance, and operation of new and existing R&D pilots for biological (SAGR and MBBR) and physical-chemical (filtration) treatment, and other installations that may incorporate other technologies developed by Nexom. The role will also include assembling and/or repairing existing piping, pumps, instrumentation, etc., for Nexom’s pilots and lab as required. The R&D Field Technician will also assist the R&D team with sample collection and transportation. Other contributions to the R&D team include on-site testing and data entry, as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain wastewater treatment process pilot facilities
  • Install, troubleshoot and maintain basic equipment such as sump pumps, dosing pumps, peristaltic pumps, float switches, blowers (oil and filter change), and air pumps
  • Collect samples from Nexom’s pilots and bench tests conducted onsite, at local treatment plants, and/or a local universities
  • Assemble and/or repair existing piping (PVC, galvanized, etc) and equipment for R&D testing
  • Assist the R&D team with testing conducted in the Nexom lab, universities, and at customer sites
  • Actively communicate with the R&D team, especially when working alone
  • Occasional travel required within Canada and the USA
  • Other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • College Degree or equivalent experience in sciences or engineering
  • Maintenance of basic mechanical and/or electrical equipment is preferred (e.g, sump pumps, peristaltic pumps, dosing pumps, blowers and air pumps)
  • Ability to assemble and/or repair piping (PVC, galvanized)
  • Must be familiar with operation of hand and power tools
  • Must be able to lift 50-lbs bags of chemicals or equipment
  • Must have a driver’s license and reliable transportation to the office
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and follow safety protocols
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry lab is an asset
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong communication
  • Problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PDF

Competitive salary and compensation package are available.

Work will be based from the office at 5 Burks Way, Winnipeg, MB, however, travel to locations within Canada or the USA may be required.
