POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Senior Geologist or Team Lead Geologist, the Field Technician will be undertaking a support role for on-going Surface Exploration in surrounding properties in the Magino Gold Operation for the discovery of additional resources within the company’s tenure. The successful candidate would start on May 15, 2024, and be offered a contract until December 31, 2024. CANADIAN PROPERTIES AND MAGINO MINE:
The company currently has 25 exploration projects and joint venture projects located in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec. It is highlighted by the Magino Mine, which has achieved full commercial production in the Dubreuilville area of Ontario and numerous other regional projects throughout the Michipicoten Greenstone Belt. There is Hercules, Castlewood Lake, West Geraldton, Klotz Lake, Milestone, and Adel gold projects in the Beardmore-Geraldton greenstone belt of northwestern Ontario, as well as two significant early-stage exploration projects in Quebec which Argonaut Gold Inc. has equal strategic JV partnerships with two other junior mining companies.
The Magino Mine is currently in full commercial production with key milestones achieved including the first gold pour in June 2023. Located in northern Ontario, Canada, 88 kms northeast of Wawa and approximately 14 kms southeast of the town of Dubreuilville, this site contains a historical underground gold mine, and tailings management facility ("TMF"). The Magino Mine is an open pit mine which will produce approximately 150,000 ounces of gold per year during the first five years of production and has an expected 19-year mine life.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support role for geological mapping/prospecting/sampling and drilling programs
- Support Surface Exploration with sampling and organizing the sorting, bagging, and tagging of samples and assist geologists with other duties.
- Support role for drilling programs with RQD, core recovery, labelling, photography, and assistant geologists with other duties
- Promote and maintain a clean and safe working environment for all staff including strict adherence to health, safety, environmental and community relations regulations and policies.
- Comply with all internal policies and procedures pertaining to the position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completed Secondary School Diploma or GED.
- Have a valid Driver’s License (Employment with the company is provisional based on being able to be insured to drive company vehicles).
- Prior experience not required, however any experience in support of mineral exploration and/or mining programs is an asset, particularly gold exploration experience.
- Support of drilling programs (DESIRABLE)
- Industry standard experience in MS Office Suite, Excel, etc. (DESIRABLE)
- First Aid and ATV/UTV certification (DESIRABLE)
- Strong work ethic and must be a good team player.
- Have a good sense of organization and attention to detail.
- Enjoy working in remote areas.
- Strong commitment to safety, health, risk management, and environmental standards.
- Highly motivated individual with a goal driven mindset.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- This is a Fixed Term position.
- The role is located proximate to the Magino Mine, which is approximately 88 kilometres northeast of Wawa, Ontario, Canada.
- The successful applicant would be working a schedule of 15 days on, 13 days off (12-hour days).
