Who we are:

This is an opportunity to join the team of Community Inclusion Society as the Finance Officer for the Nova Scotia Works program that we deliver in Kings and West Hants counties in Nova Scotia.

The Nova Scotia Works program offers free, inclusive, professional employment services to all Nova Scotians - job seekers, employers and youth. Community INC is proud to offer this program as part of a provincially funded system delivered by a variety of organizations across Nova Scotia.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the finance department
  • Prepare financial statements, reports, and budgets
  • Monitor and analyze financial data and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards
  • Manage cash flow and forecasting
  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits
  • Provide financial analysis and support to management
  • Process all payables and receivables, payroll and remittances to the Receiver General and Workers Compensation Board and complete monthly bank reconciliations
  • Administer the group health and RRSP plans
  • Maintain records on staff time off
  • Complete required government forms inclusive of ROEs, TD1 forms, T4 and T4a, and HST rebate claims
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and program supplies

Skills:

  • Post Secondary education in finance, accounting, or related field or an acceptable combination of training and experience
  • Proven experience as a Finance Officer or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of financial principles and practices
  • Proficient in financial software (Sage) and MS Office Suite
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
