Financial Reporting Manager

IoM Media Ventures is a 3D animation studio located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Our studio's talent-friendly, encouraging atmosphere is where highly-skilled individuals come together to create amazing animated content.

We're looking for a Financial Reporting Manager to support our dynamic and growing operations. Reporting to the CFO, you will be responsible for ensuring the organization is adhering to established and effective financial policies, procedures and controls. This position requires a self-motivated professional who is efficient and adept at identifying and implementing solutions to improving financial effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure month end close procedures are completed.
• Assess the accuracy and completeness of financial statements and accounting records.
• Research financial variances and analyze financial data.
• Ensure Financial Reporting deadlines are met, internally and externally.
• Ensure compliance with accounting and finance standards, best practices, and government regulations.
• Stay updated with financial practices, policies, and regulations.
• Liaise with auditors, tax specialist and external parties.
• Assist the initiatives of systems enhancement and process improvement.
• Facilitate budgeting and forecasting process.
• Establish individual business entities (productions) and collaborate with Business Affairs on proper filings, requirements and obligations.
• Oversee completion of audits and tax filings for completed productions.
• Year end reporting.
• Assist and train staff on financial procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• CPA designation is an asset.
• 5+ years of work experience in Financial Management/Accounting.
• Advanced proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
• Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
• In-depth understanding and knowledge of accounting regulations and Financial Reporting.
• Advanced understanding of financial tools and software for the purpose of reporting and analysis.
• Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Strong negotiating skills for developing ongoing working relationships.
• Process and deadline driven.
• Strong business and commercial acumen.
