The incumbent prepares financial reports in order to determine the client’s financial status and performs various financial transactions. In addition, this role is required to assist in planning/budgeting, completion of market surveys and ad hoc project work.

The incumbent will work with other departments within Securian Canada in order to meet performance and customer satisfaction objectives.

What you will do
- Tracking and monitoring the Financial Results for the Block of Business (Premiums/Claims/Expenses/Profit Margins)
- Preparation of Quotes/Proposals for New Prospects and Existing Plan Sponsors.
- Prepares client financial reports including Renewal Reports.
- Knowledge of Industry & Regulatory Trends impacting Products and Pricing.
- Acts as primary subject matter expert for understanding the end-to-end mapping of operational processes as they affect reporting.
- Calculates surplus/deficit, cash flows and all taxes credited and debited;
- Performs various financial transactions such as wire requisitions and tax calculations;
- Preparation of financial letters of agreement;
- Verifies accuracy of systems reports and, if applicable, corrects errors with the department in question;
- Ensures that other departments using financial data have correct information on each client;
- Ensures that surplus payments and deficit recoveries are processed as required.
- Respond to inquiries from clients/intermediaries/internal teams as required regarding items related to any financial reports (e.g. premiums, claims, reserves, expenses, etc.)
- Participates in various department or inter-department projects.
- Complete ad hoc reporting.
- Preparation of market and regulatory surveys
What you will bring
- Minimum of 5 years of experience and knowledge in the insurance industry (preferably Creditor Insurance although Life, Health and Dental are also acceptable).
- College diploma and/or university degree;
- Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills;
- Demonstrated mathematical skills and basic understanding of accounting;
- Strong analytical thinker, attention to detail;
- Committed to excellence and team player;
- Self motivated and results oriented;
- Ability to collaborate effectively with management and business partners;
- Able to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment, independently or part of a team.
- Strong ability to sustain concentration and set priorities;
- Positive attitude and commitment to quality service despite high work volumes;
- Excel proficiency, including pivot tables and graphs.
Assets:
- Basic understanding of Association, Creditor and Student Business.
- Negotiation Skills
- Knowledge of established financial reporting principles and techniques;
- 2-3 years experience in general accounting
- Tableau skills.
- Knowledge of insurance administration systems.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Sharepoint
