Key Assets Newfoundland and Labrador (KANL) provides family-based and alternate care along with a wide variety of programming and other services to support children, youth and families. Working in partnership with statutory bodies, KANL strives to develop creative and innovative programs for the provision of unique and supportive services, tailored to meet the needs of children, youth, and families, and designed to work towards improving outcomes. KANL is currently recruiting in Newfoundland and Labradorfor the position of:

Fly In Fly Out Child and Youth Care Worker(s)

(Full-time Positions Available)

We are looking for innovative and creative Child and Youth Care Workers to provide care, supervision, and support to young people with complex needs. This Fly in/Fly out opportunity allows you to support children and Youth in some of Labrador’s most remote and isolated communities. The work is varied and will include relationship building, planning, and participating in social and recreational activities including land-based activities, teaching life skills, providing educational supports and developing and implementing individualized intervention plans.

The successful applicant(s) must be confident, energetic, adaptable, patient, self-aware, physically active, and able to safely intervene in crisis situations. Shift work, including weekends, is required.

Education & Experience:
To be successful in this role, the candidate is required to have:

  • Diploma/Degree in Child and Youth Care or a related discipline
  • Experience working with young people with emotional/behavioral difficulties
  • A minimum of 1-year related work experience
  • Ability to demonstrate experience of working with children with challenging behavior in an effective and appropriate way
  • Have sound knowledge of Child Protection Procedures and clinical practices
  • Hold a valid Crisis Prevention and Intervention certification (CPI, TCI or UMAB)

Additional Requirements:

  • Clear Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check from RNC/RCMP
  • Child Protection Clearance Check granting clearance
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Drivers Abstract
  • Current and valid Standard First Aid/CPR certification
  • Valid Proof of Canadian Residency
  • Working a two week on/two week off rotation
  • Flying to work in Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Hopedale or other areas along the coast as needed
