Newfoundland Eggs is currently seeking highly motivated candidates for the position of Food Safety & Quality Assurance assistant.

ABOUT OUR COMPANY:

Newfoundland Eggs operates a specialized egg grading facility at Roaches Line, supplying graded table eggs and eggs for further processing. It is a 4th generation family owned and operated business and has experienced continual growth and is poised for further expansion and diversification of its operations and product offerings in the near future.

Who are you?

Reporting to the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Lead the Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Assistant is a highly motivated individual with an emphasis on continuous process improvement and product quality. This position will be responsible for quality control activities as well as assisting the FSQA Lead with ongoing development, implementation, and the continuous improvement of programs related to quality, Food Safety, and sanitation.

Key Responsibilities:

· Assist the FSQA Lead in ensuring all products are manufactured in accordance with Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) requirements and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)

· Act as the facility’s backup SQF practitioner

· Conduct quality control activities such as product inspections, plant inspections, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) monitoring

· Perform verifications and/or calibrations on equipment such as thermometers, hygrometers, and scales!

· Evaluate and continuously improve plant activities – verify for effectiveness, SOP adherence, and develop action plans for improvement

· Accurately complete and/or verify all documentation according to the facility’s Food Safety and quality plans

· Participate in regulatory, customer and third-party audits and assist in implementing corrective actions where required

· Interact effectively, constructively, and productively with personnel at all levels within the organization

· Train operations personnel on Food Safety program requirements

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Food Technology Diploma, Food Safety Advanced Diploma, or a degree in a science or quality related field or equivalent experience would be considered.
  • Knowledge/understanding of Food Safety programs such as GFSI, HACCP, GMP's, etc.
  • Quality/Food Safety experience in a food processing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to both create and improve standard operating practices that are both efficient and effective
  • Superior problem solving-ability
  • Experience or training in formal Root Cause Analysis is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Self-starter who works can demonstrate initiative and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Great interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work well both independently as well as in a team environment
