Ledwidge Lumber is a family-owned sawmill with an 80-year history in Nova Scotia. With 100 employees and a passion for what we do, we are looking for a Forest Technician or Forester to join our Woodlands Team. The successful candidate will perform on-the-ground forestry-related activities to advance the management and development of the company's log supply inventory as part of our wood procurement team. Duties are:
- Supervise and inspect company, private, and crown land harvesting and silviculture operations
- Harvest block layout including all aspects of – road layout, boundary line establishment, and buffering of watercourses and wetlands.
- Silviculture surveys – pre and post assessments and/or auditing.
- Sizing and supervision of watercourse installations and crossings.
- Timber cruising
- Pre-Treatment Assessment data collection (PTA) as it applies to the NS Forest Ecosystem Classification System and accompanying guide manuals.
- Communicate regularly with the Wood Procurement Team on Operations
