The City of Calgary Composting Facility is a $143 Million- dollar facility that opened its operations on July 18th, 2017. It is located adjacent to the Shepard Waste Management Facility, south of 114th Avenue and 68 Street. E.

Loader Operator (Night Shift) Profile:
We are seeking an individual to join our Night Shift Operating team in Calgary. Reporting to the Operations Supervisor the successful candidate will be responsible for and not limited to:
- Inspecting equipment prior to commencement and conclusion of each shift completing all daily maintenance and operating log reports.
- Loading and unloading all organics waste products and materials into shredders, mixers, screening systems, and compost processing vessels.
- Maintaining a clean working environment promoting individual and team commitment to OH&S best practices.
- Identifying and reporting any equipment deficiencies to the Operations Supervisor.
- Actively participating in daily toolbox meetings and scheduled staff, OH&S and Environmental training programs, and other related meetings.
- Safely perform other duties as assigned.
Operating Equipment:
The Night Shift Loader Operator will be required to operate a variety of large equipment in an efficient and safe operating manner including but not limited to the following:
- Volvo 120/150/180 Loaders and John Deere 744L/724P/824L.
- Skid Steer and attachments.
- Scissor/ Boom Lifts, other related equipment.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years operating a Front- End Loader.
- Knowledge of the commercial composting infrastructure, equipment, systems, and processes considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Valid Drivers License.
Attributes:
- Ability to work both as part of a team and independently.
- Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner.
Working Conditions:
- Odorous environment.
- Frequent exposure to excessive noise, dirt, and dust.
- Work is mainly inside facility but occasionally outside.
- Fast paced environment.
- Regular hours of work will be comprised of 44 hours per week.
- Specifically, qualified candidates MUST be available to work a schedule that includes weekends.
