Gallery Retail Shop Coordinator

The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria (“AGGV”) is the largest public art gallery on Vancouver Island and one of the most significant in Canada with its important collection of visual and decorative arts.

The AGGV currently has an opening for a Gallery Shop Coordinator. The primary function of this position is to lead the operation of the retail shop within the gallery, and online, to generate revenue that helps to fund exhibitions and programming that contribute to the quality of life within our community. The Gallery Shop Coordinator plays a key role in providing visitors with an enhanced experience by providing merchandise related to exhibitions, the gallery’s unique collection and from artists and artisans within our community.

We are looking for a bright and enthusiastic individual who loves engaging with visitors, is an inspirational leader for staff and volunteers who work in the Gallery Shop and has a keen eye for merchandise that will compliment the activities at the gallery.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ previous work experience in retail management, inventory management, customer service and visual merchandising.

In addition, the successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience supervising staff and an equal number of years of experience working with Point of Sale/Inventory Management software preferably with Profitek POS system and the Shopify web-based application.

This position’s standard schedule is 35 hours per week which may include some evening and weekend hours on occasion. The position requires the successful candidate to work at the Gallery.
