Garden Center Assistant

Job Overview:
We are seeking a Garden Assistant to join our team. You will be responsible for assisting with supervising staff, providing excellent customer service, assisting customers with their gardening needs, and maintaining the overall appearance of the Garden Center. This is a great opportunity for individuals who have a passion for gardening and enjoy working in a retail environment. Position is seasonal with full time from April-July, and part time through summer and fall. Previous garden centre experience is an asset, but we will train the right person.

Responsibilities:

- Assist with supervising staff and organizing work day
- Assist customers in selecting plants, flowers, and gardening supplies
- Provide knowledgeable advice on plant care, gardening techniques, and landscaping ideas
- Operate the cash register and handle cash transactions accurately
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Garden Center
- Water plants and ensure they are properly cared for
- Stock shelves and maintain inventory levels
- Assist with unloading deliveries of plants and supplies
- Answer customer inquiries in person, over the phone, or via email
- Collaborate with team members to achieve sales goals

Qualifications:
- Previous experience in cashiering, cash handling, or retail sales preferred
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Knowledge or interest in gardening and plants
- Familiarity with e-commerce platforms is a plus as well as experience with excel,
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to operate a point-of-sale (POS) system
