Garden Center Associate

This is a seasonal Full Time Position: Mar 1st to Nov 15. Seasonally laid off during Winter

Scheduled hours will be during store hours of operation (Monday to Saturday)

Responsibilities:

· You will be the primary person to lead our garden centre.

· Greet customers warmly and ensure a good customer experience

· Assess customer needs and provide expert advice on garden department products

· Highlight positive features of products and suggest complementary products

· Support marketing of products: Displaying of merchandise, visual presentation, maintaining price labelling for garden centre inventory

· Keep up to date with new product lines

· Create customer awareness about current promotions and flyers

· Forklift operation experience is an asset, but training will be provided, moving skids around the yard, and unloading trucks

· Heavy lifting required (50lbs) to lift soils and fertilizer bags for customers to their vehicles

· Preferred candidates will have knowledge of Plumbing, Electrical, Paint, Hardware and Lawn & Garden. Additional training provided

Qualifications

• Preferred candidates will have knowledge of good knowledge of Lawn and Garden or Agricultural background. Plumbing, Electrical, Paint, Hardware would be a great asset.

• Forklift operation experience is an asset, but training will be provided.

• Heavy lifting required (50lbs) to lift soils and fertilizer bags for customers to their vehicles

• Enjoy working in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Ability to excel in a self-directed work environment

• Ability to problem solve and trouble shoot

• Basic computer literacy and arithmetic skills

Salary: $17.00-$18.00 per hour
