The Opportunity
Gammon International is a boutique property management and commercial real estate company located in Vancouver B.C. with over 45 years of experience in the industry.
We specialize in the professional management, leasing and sales of small and large scale office, retail, industrial and rental properties throughout the lower mainland.
We are looking to add a full-time General Accountant that possesses a deep understanding of commercial property accounting, corporate accounting, team leadership and management. The candidate will work closely with both our accounting and property management divisions assisting the company's Controller on a daily basis.
Duties and Responsibilities
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES CORPORATE
- Bank reconciliation with various trust, commission, and operating bank account
- Credit card reconciliation, charging and posting
- Bank deposits and payments to vendors
- Calculate and process monthly management fees for all properties. Create invoices and save them for Financial Statement packages.
- Manage office expenses, prepare invoices, transfer funds and make postings
- Create superintendent invoices from Sage, send to AP for inputting as payable.
- Prepare special charge back invoices to properties
- Petty cash management
REAL ESTATE
- Process transaction invoices and payments of commissions to real estate agents
- Supervision fee invoicing and commission payment to staff.
- Miscellaneous fees and commission invoicing and payment to staff. Manage all other various fees and commission payments to staff
- Manage the commission trust balance and deal transaction liabilities
- Prepare all deal related documents and authorizations
- Transfer cash balances to general accounts and maintain records
PROPERTY MANAGEMENT
- Deposit rent cheques and post receipts.
- Obtain NSF items and charge back tenant with NSF fees, and notify PM teams.
- Update PAD information on the tenant’s accounts.
- Download bank statement and complete bank reconciliation.
- Assist in submitting owner distributions monthly
- Assist in processing terminating properties requirements and delivery of documentations to new management company
- Assist in annual trust audits in compilation of sampling documents.
GENERAL
- Any other duties and responsibilities (not covered above) which management may assign to you from time to time.
- Attending workshops/seminars, courses periodically and as required by your scope of work.
What You Will Need
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or financial management
- CPA (an asset but not required)
- Minimum 3 years experience in property accounting and corporate accounting with local BC companies
- Possesses clear and articulate leadership skills in any internal and external capacity
- Understands and possesses experience in technology and the demand for a digital platform
- Friendly, approachable, patient and well-mannered

Education:
