General Labourer (12-Month Contract)

We are looking for a General Labourer to join our team in Brampton, Ontario for a 12-month contract.
JOB SUMMARY:
The General Labourer is responsible for supporting the production process by performing duties associated with cleaning, finishing, washing and packaging BWXT components.  Employees working in this position may specialize in one area or be able to perform in all areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Moving cuttings from all CNC machines and putting them into drums
-Chamfering bars of raw materials
-Moving bars of raw materials to CNC machines
-Deburring and cleaning mechanical parts if necessary
-May support cleaning of the production area and 5S initiatives of Production and Office areas.  
-Will assist in performing quality checks as required
-Maintenance of the building’s grounds such as; lawn maintenance and salting walkways
-Organize and inventory parts as necessary to ensure preparedness for next operation.
-May support Material Handlers in the movement and organization of parts.
-Use material handling equipment to carefully move components from one operation to the next.
-Package parts by following standard operating procedures for each part
 
Administration:
-Follow all company policies and health and safety procedures.
-Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times when required
-Report any personal workplace injuries to direct supervisor immediately.
-Report safety issues to direct supervisor as soon as possible.
-Maintains an acceptable level of performance by following established policies and procedures and participate in continuous improvement efforts by supporting and implementing new ideas.
-Sets a positive example by maintaining a respectful attitude, cooperating with co-workers, management, and internal and external customers.
-Be a productive team member and help meet established departmental and Company goals.
-Report to work for your regularly scheduled shifts on time and ready to work.
-Effectively give and receive feedback and willingly ask questions and seek direction when needed.
-May work any and all shifts/days as required.
-Willingly accepts responsibility of sharing skills and knowledge with other employees.
-Perform all other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
 
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
-High school diploma or equivalent required.
-2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
-Certified forklift and crane operation certificates an asset.
-Demonstrated mechanical skills/mechanically inclined.
-Experience working in the nuclear, aerospace, or defense industry is an asset.
-Highly dextrous with extreme attention to detail.
-Strong communication (verbal/written) and problem-solving skills.
-Ability to work independently to complete assignments promptly.
 
The base salary range for this position in Ontario 
at the start of employment is expected to be between $39,000 and $56,000
per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
