General Labourer

The Quality Inn & Conference Centre Kingston Central and Comfort Suites Kingston Central is looking for a skilled, efficient, and safety-minded laborer for hotel renovations. Applicants should have residential construction industry experience with special skills such as painting and carpentry. The ideal candidate will be capable of working with minimal oversight but willing to follow directions closely. Additionally, he or she should be familiar with construction industry safety standards and procedures to ensure project security .

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Perform set-up and clean-up tasks
• Painting
• Safe removal of dry wall and carpeting
• Sanding
• Use power tools and machinery
• Assist heavy equipment operators
• Mix, pour and spread materials
• Clean up chemical spills and other contaminants
• Remove rubble and other debris
• Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction
• Clean and pile salvaged materials
• Load, unload and transport construction materials
• Adhere to healthy and safety, WHMIS and applicable standards

The above areas of responsibility are not all inclusive and may be amended from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Completion of secondary school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of post-secondary education, certification and/or license in a related field, preferably
• Minimum of 1 year carpentry experience
• Basic painting and electrical knowledge
• Handyman skills and experience using of power tools
• Flexibility to workdays, evenings, weekends, holidays as required
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Must possess the ability to communicate effectively within a diverse team environment
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a multi-cultural environment with co-workers, managers, and guests
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, such as heavy lifting, working on ladders, bending, and standing or walking for extended periods of time.

• Ability to work around debris, dust, and paint fumes
