Exchanger Industries is currently seeking a Labourer!
Exchanger Industries Limited is a top designer and manufacturer of world-wide custom heat transfer equipment for the global oil, natural gas, and petrochemical industries. Since our incorporation in 1961, we have grown extensively to be recognized as a world leader in thermal heat transfer technology, and one of the largest manufactures of heat exchangers in Canada.
This is a unionized environment and all successful candidates will need to become a member of the IBB Union.
We currently have opening each on our day shift (8 hour shifts x 5 days per week; 5am-1pm) and on our afternoon shift (10 hour shifts X 4 days per week; 1:30pm-11:30 pm).
Scope:
Reporting to the Lead Hand, Labour Department, the labourer is responsible for completing all assigned work orders following the customer drawings, specifications, or other forms of instruction to complete the job. This role will require you to become a member if the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Able to read and follow construction or fabrication drawings with completing required task
- Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labour
- Able to operate pneumatic tools
- Cut and thread tie rods and spacers
- Assist with the assembly of tube bundles and Air Coolers
- Assist in the Installation and removal of hydro test components
- Prepare completed units for shipping
- Able to complete general clean up and housekeeping duties
- Ensure equipment and tools are stored in a safe and secure manner
- Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all policies and procedures
- Notify lead hand of faulty operations of equipment or defective materials
- Rig, hoist and move material to different areas of the shop or within the worksite
- Use ladders, stands and scaffolding as necessary to complete the required job
- Ability to work at heights over 10 feet and in confined spaces
- Must meet and adhere to all company policies, procedures and quality requirements
- Must be able to understand, adhere and be accountable in following our Company Safety Policy.

Desired Skills and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Analytical ability
- Good manual dexterity required
- Ability to adapt and work within a changing work environment
- Capable of following instructions and the ability to work on your own with limited supervision.
- Ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English
- Adherence to all health and safety requirements
Working Conditions:
- Heavy industrial fabrication environment, requiring the usage of PPE
- Standing and walking, sometimes crawling or kneeling for specific tasks
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
- May be required to wear a respirator while completing certain tasks.
- Ability to work all shifts. Days, Afternoons and Midnights if required
- Union environment
