our Paris Ontario Modifications location. This position is a permanent full-time position. Working under
the supervision of the Production Manager, the General Labourer will be an integral team member of the
Modification team.
Work hours are Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM and offers a competitive base salary dependent on
experience, an annual incentive scheme, a competitive benefits package and a company-matching RRSP

We are looking to fulfill a General Labourer position, with their primary focus on painting shipping
containers. During our off-season, the employee may focus more on carpentry and fabrication. For the
first 6 months of employment, the candidate can expect to paint 60% of their daily work week, and 40%
carpentry.
THE EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Valid G driver’s license
- Experience with paint, paint brushing, paint gun and machine.
- Basic understanding of xylene, enamel, and oil paint.
- Ability to operate and clean paint spraying machine is a huge asset. BigSteelBox can train and
- Basic carpentry experience. BigSteelBox will train the right candidate.
- Knowledge of power tools and proper use (grinder, drill, table saw, circular saw, etc).
- Ability to use a measuring tape and understand measurements.
- Forklift Operator Certification is a requirement of the position. BigSteelBox can train and certify
- Microsoft Office Suites basic knowledge.
- Safety-conscious.
- Grade 12 education or equivalent.
WHAT YOUR PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE:
- Prepare container surfaces by removing decals, paint, rust, etc. to ensure proper adhesion of paint
- Repair or report any imperfections, such as cracks, holes, or dents that may need to be addressed
- Prepare container flooring, openings, and other material to avoid overspray of paint application
- Spray container doors, walls, and roof.
- Follow directions as stated on work orders regarding paint colour, items to paint, etc. to ensure
- Paint trim, roll-up doors, frames, interior materials, and similar items.
- Measure and apply decals to containers as specified by the work order.
- After completing a painting project, painters are responsible for cleaning up their work area,
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cut/measure/frame interior of 20’ and 40’ containers
- Cut and install various materials for interior finishing. This may include smart panel, drywall, PVC
- Cut, bend, install aluminum flashing around openings, such as windows and doors
- Install windows, Acs, door hardware, exhaust fans and other similar items
REQUIRED SKILLS/CORE COMPETENCIES:
- Ability to read and write and communicate verbally.
- Attention to detail to ensure quality product to customer.
- Must be reliable and trustworthy.
- Work both independently and/or in a team environment.
- Able to understand and comply with OSHA training and standards.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations when working with paint, chemicals, and equipment.
- Organization skills for tools/materials/storage
- Takes personal ownership and responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work.
- Adapts and responds to changing conditions, priorities, technologies, and requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bending, kneeling, squatting, walking, standing, lifting, twisting.
- Lifting and walking up to approximately 75 pounds.
- Able to climb ladders, containers, loaders, and other items.
- Must pass respirator physical annually and be respirator trained.
- No facial hair which would interfere with wearing respirator.
- Ability to daily wear, clean, and store respirator equipment.
- Physical ability to work with and in the presence of paints, mineral spirits, and similar chemicals.
- Wear proper safety equipment such as Tyvek coveralls, respirators, safety glasses, and gloves.
- Ability to work in extreme heat during summer season
