Job Function Overview – Sandblaster/General Labour
As a Sandblaster, you will be responsible for ensuring, trailers, parts etc. are sandblasted correctly, in preparation for paint. The Sandblaster must have the ability to operate sandblasting equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operate Sandblasting equipment to remove paint, grease, tar, rust and dirt from metal material in preparation for painting
- Regulate pressure and composition of sandblasting equipment
- Mask specific areas of object to protect from abrading action
- Examine finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications
- Ensure outputs meet production schedules, safety and quality standards, as well as customer needs
- Maintain a clean working area free from dirt and debris between tasks and at end of day
- Detect equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine, controls, or control media within capabilities as required to ensure quality of production;
- Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency.
- Operate forklifts as required
- Operate overhead cranes up to 5 tons
- Keep work place organized
- Perform other duties, as required
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Ability to be certified in forklift and crane operations
- Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor.
This is a full time job 40 hours per week, 7:00 to 4:30, Monday to Thurday, 7-12 on Fridays.
