General Maintenance Worker

QUALIFICATIONS:
- One year certificate in Building Construction or equivalent qualifications in a related field
- Two years recent experience in building maintenance including grounds-keeping, building renovation and construction
- Demonstrated skills with troubleshooting and performing repairs
- Demonstrated ability in the safe use of power tools and hand tools
- Ability to assess and prioritize work orders making the most efficient use of time and resources
- Knowledge with technology such as Microsoft Office Suite and computerized maintenance management systems
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Demonstrated team player with the ability to work independently and under pressure of multiple tasks and deadlines
- In-person, on-site position; must be able to reliably commute and/or relocate to North Bay, ON
DUTIES:
- Respond to various emergency and routine maintenance calls and work requests
- Perform all duties related to outside grounds maintenance and snow removal
- Operate various machinery such as small loader, tractor-mounted plow and sander, lawnmowers (push and ride-on) and any other related equipment that the College may acquire
- Work with various trades and/or contractors to complete work order tasks
- Recommend, establish and maintain preventative maintenance programs for various building components and equipment
- Provide input and consultation with regards to the College’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
- Move various types of equipment related to room changes (installations/removals/repairs)
- Perform routine inspections and completes scheduled maintenance to various equipment or systems by adding appropriate lubricants, changing or washing filters, adjusting or replacing worn belts
- Ensure minimum service interruptions and maximize or exceed the normal life expectancy of equipment
- Performs other duties as assigned
