Description

The Role
The geology group is seeking a self-driven student who can contribute to geochemistry knowledge of uranium ore and correlate mineralogy at the McArthur River Operation. The successful candidate will work a term of eight months beginning in May 2024.
In this role, you will:
-Provide support to the group with various aspects of geological and operational activities at the mine site, including data and database management, daily production monitoring, geological and geotechnical drill core logging, sampling and downhole probing, underground face mapping, etc.
-Gain hands-on experience in both office and underground while helping Cameco to ensure the continued safe and environmentally responsible operation.
-Major project opportunity: work closely with geologists, metallurgists, and chemical engineers to select and sample historic drill hole cores for geochemistry analysis and modelling.
-Prepare reports and presentations on geochemical findings.
-Foster innovation within technical services teams and communicate recommendations to improve operational performance.
Required:  
-Entering your fourth-year undergraduate or enrolling in a master's program in geology, and geological sciences with an emphasis on geochemistry.
-Possess strong communication, data analysis, compilation, and computer skills.
-You must be returning to school for the academic semester following your work term with Cameco.
-Ability to travel to Camecos northern operations and work a 14-day in/14-day out, 11-hour day rotation.
Assets:  
-Previous work with exploration or in a mine geology work environment.
-Knowledge of mining software (Vulcan, Leapfrog, & acQuire)
-Knowledge of Athabasca basin uranium ore characteristics.
-Experience with geochemistry data analysis and interpretation.
The successful candidate will work a term of approximately eight months (May to December). You will work a rotational schedule commuting to the site by aircraft
