As the Geospatial Technician, you will create and maintain corporate geospatial data that is required by various City of Calgary business units and Geographical Information Systems (GIS), consultants, utility companies, and Calgary Regional Partners. In this role, you will use MicroStation, Oracle SQL, ArcGIS, POSSE, Feature Manipulation Engine (FME) and various other data technologies for the creation of property and building records, cartography, record keeping, and other spatial data creation and maintenance functions. Primary duties include:

  • Create and maintain data sets on behalf of clients, including maps, basic drawings, and presentations using ArcGIS, Computer Aided Design (CAD), MicroStation, AutoCAD or other software.
  • Complete quality assurance processes according to Geodatabase and Oracle Environment rules and regulations.
  • Maintain the file management system; and track project and service time using time management software.
 
Qualifications 
  • A completed 2 year diploma in Architectural Technology (AT), Civil Engineering Technology (CVT), Engineering Design and Drafting Technology (EDDT), Geomatics Engineering Technology (GNT), Applied Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or a related discipline.
  • Intermediate proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS, along with basic experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is required.
  • A basic level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) is also required.
  • Ability to work effectively individually and in a team environment, and strong organizational skills to accomplish client and business unit goals and objectives.

Compensation: Pay Grade 7 $33.33 - 44.60 per hour
Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day
work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
