Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated GIS Specialist for employment. This role can be located at any AECOM office in Ontario.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and associated software to produce, display, and analyze geographic information

  • Develop and maintain databases, reports, and mapping

  • Create, organize, manipulate, and retrieve GIS data for reporting, analysis, and presentation purposes

  • Perform quality assurance of GIS data and associated graphic components

  • Support digital data collection programs

  • Use concepts, practices, and procedures to extract and provide GIS data to clients

  • Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

  • Develop and maintain databases, reports, and maps.

  • Create, organize, manipulate, and retrieve GIS data for reporting, analysis, and presentation purposes

  • Prepare and update metadata

  • Perform quality assurance of GIS data and associated graphic components

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography or other related field required

  • 2+ years of relevant experience

  • Willingness to travel (up to 10% local travel)

Preferred Qualifications :

  • 4 years of relevant experience

  • Basic experience working with ArcGIS and other GIS databases

  • Proficiency with ESRI desktop mapping and analysis tools and extensions (ArcGIS Online, Portal, Web Apps, Survey 123 etc)

  • Understanding of complex relational database organization, design, and functionality

  • Proficiency in the processing and analysis of raster and vector geospatial data

  • Demonstrated knowledge of cartographic design and production concepts and principles

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate in both verbal and written form

  • Familiar with GIS production environments

  • Experience in the development of online mapping platforms and applications (AGOL)

  • Basic application and tool development skills using Model Builder, Python, or Visual Basic

  • Working knowledge of LiDAR processing techniques

  • Working knowledge of raster processing techniques

  • Driver's license

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.

  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position typically is $50,000 - $70,000.
