The Pinestone Resort and Conference Centre Overlooks 160 acres of lush “Cottage Country” landscape in the scenic Haliburton Highlands of Ontario. The area’s only full-service hotel with a golf course and restaurant, just two and a half hours from Toronto. Staff and Guests can enjoy an abundance of outdoor activities ranging from hiking, biking, golfing, fishing and swimming.
A gardener at a golf resort and golf course must combine a passion for the outdoors and gardening with the skills and knowledge necessary to maintain and enhance the landscape.
Duties include:
- Maintain and care for the landscaping and grounds of the golf course and resort at Pinestone Resort.
- Plant, prune, and maintain decorative flowers, bushes, and trees around the golf course and resort areas. This includes assisting in designing and implementing landscaping projects to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the grounds.
- Prepare and maintain garden beds, including weeding, mulching, and edging, to ensure a neat and attractive appearance.
- Ability to use and maintain a variety of gardening and landscaping tools and equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, and blowers, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- While the primary focus is on gardening and landscaping, gardeners may also be asked to assist with other tasks associated with the Grounds Crew. This could include helping with the maintenance of pathways and paths, participating in larger construction or renovation projects on the course, and assisting with the setup and teardown of events held at the resort. Being flexible and willing to contribute to a range of maintenance and improvement tasks is crucial for the overall team's success and the pristine condition of the golf resort and course.
- Mow, trim, and edge fairways, roughs, and greens using specialized turf equipment.
- Assist in setting up the course for play, including changing hole locations and maintaining tee box markers.
- Assist in operation and maintenance of the irrigation system to ensure proper watering of the course.
- Perform bunker maintenance, including raking and edging.
- Assist with special projects such as course renovations and landscaping enhancements.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations while operating equipment on the course.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in gardening or landscaping is highly desirable.
- Must be physically able to perform labor-intensive tasks in various weather conditions.
- Previous experience working on a golf course maintenance crew an asset.
- Knowledge of turf maintenance practices specific to golf course grounds.
- Familiarity with specialized golf course equipment.
- Understanding of the game of golf and how course conditions impact play.

Salary: From $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
