Job description

Nanaimo Foodshare is a well established that works toward improving access to affordable nutritious food and food know edge in our community We are seeking an experienced Grant Writer to work with our team. The ideal candidate will have 3 or more years writing grants including grant from a variety of funders such as Foundations and Government agencies.

Responsibilities:

-Become familiar with the granting cycle and potential funding opportunities

-Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines and ensure timely submission of applications

-Write and submit grant proposals to secure funding for various projects and programs

-Collaborate with program managers and staff to gather necessary information for grant applications

-Develop budgets and financial reports for grant proposals

-Track and report on the progress of funded projects to grantors

-Stay updated on current trends and best practices in grant writing

-Responsible meet deadlines in an organized way

Qualifications:

-Minimum 3 years proven experience in grant writing in a non-profit setting

-research skills to identify potential funding sources

-willingness to work on site

-ability and willingness to communicate with other team members efficiently

-Superior writing, grammatical, and narrative skills

-Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

-Knowledge of local non-profits is an asset

-Existing familiarity with funding sources is an asset.
