We are seeking up to 3 new team members to help in all aspects of our plant nursery business. There is also potential for additional work through the Spring and Summer managing our garlic patch and cut-flower flower garden.
Responsibilities:
Nursery:
- preparing growing media
- Seeding flats/trays
- potting up plants
- general seedling care
- Pest and disease monitoring and control
- Infrastructure maintenance and improvements
- Washing pots and seedling trays
Sales and Markets:
- Assembling online seedling orders
- Assembling orders and delivering to wholesale clients
- Farmers’ markets: setup, sales, customer support, and pack-up
Gardens
- Soil preparation
- seeding and transplanting crops
- crop management (weeding, pruning etc.)
- crop harvest and sales prep
Qualifications
- attention to detail
- good work ethic and integrity
- Ability to lift heavy items and do physically demanding work
- Ability to work in a wide range of weather conditions
- Quick hands and commitment to improve task efficiency
- enthusiasm and a positive attitude
- good communication and customer service skills
- driver’s license
- previous agricultural/horticultural/garden centre work experience is an asset
- owning a vehicle is an asset
- bilingualism is an asset
- Must be between 15-30 years old to qualify for Canada Summer Jobs Grant
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal
Salary: $17.00-$22.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
