The Watermark Beach Resort is looking for a remote Sales Manager to develop new group business to the resort.

Overview

The Group Sales Manager is responsible for the attainment of assigned goals tied to the overall performance of the hotel.

The individual will be responsible for:

  • Effectively solicit and secure new group business accounts
  • Manage and develop past and new business to ensure all budgeted revenue goals are achieved or exceeded.
  • Soliciting new Group Sales accounts and maintaining relationships with existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals in guest rooms, food, beverage, catering and event room rental.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit new and existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals through telephone prospecting, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.
  • Execute and attend sales calls, trade shows, community events, networking opportunities and sales trips as designated. Driving and travel will be required.
  • Prompt response to all inquiries and correspondence from clients, prospects and lead referrals and follow up on assigned sales leads.
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates for all incoming inquiries.
  • Enter all inquiries and proposals in OPERA/OSEM using existing templates and formats to prepare communication with clients and potential clients.
  • Ensure all group business is qualified and communicate any deficiencies to the DOS regarding challenges that prevent the Group Sales Manager from effectively communicating with clients or bidding on a piece of business.
  • Work alongside the Events Manager to ensure a smooth handover and introduction of all group business once the contract is signed, to position the Events Manager as the sole contact to meeting planners and departments heads in the hotel with relation to the piece of business.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports of sales calls and marketing actions as requested by Hotel and Sales Leadership
  • Ensure timely follow-up with planners on proposals and contracts that have been sent.
  • Share any corporate IT business opportunities identified from clients through the Group Sales process.
  • Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel, both orally and in written form to previous, current and potential clients.
  • Communicate directly with DOS/GM daily to determine availability and rates for all group business prospects and proposals.
  • Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.
  • Prepare information for, meet with, and entertain clients as deemed appropriate by potential business from that account.
  • Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance.
  • Participate in business review meetings, pre-convention meetings, training and other sales- related meetings as required.
  • Knowledge of market trends, competition, and key customers of the hotel.
  • Comply with attendance requirement and pre-established hours of work.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a Sales Manager role, preferably in a hotel environment.
  • Knowledge of business, the market and region an asset.
  • Team player able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to follow direction and think on own to maximize sales and office efficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability with regard to computer skills, including an intermediate level of Microsoft Office Suite, and proficiency with e-mail and internet. Experience using the hotel sales programs or Opera is an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organizational skills, meeting deadlines and client due dates
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule. Schedule is 8:30 to 5:00 pm however must have the flexibility to incorporate travel, evening, and weekend work into their lifestyle;
  • Must have valid driver’s license and vehicle.

  • Competitive Annual Salary
  • Bonus program based on achievement of budgeted quarterly, and annual goals as outlined in the annual resort budget.
  • Laptop Computer and cellular telephone provided by Resort for the sole purpose of performing the tasks of Group Sales Manager.
  • Participation in Resort Group Benefits Program
  • Compensation for travel to and from sales appointments over and above regular travel. Travel to and from resort or to and from any single appointment will be considered part of the daily role of the Groups Sales Manager. Any travel outside of the geographical area for the purpose of sales calls, attendance of trade shows or networking events will be compensated at the provincially approved milage rates.
