Health Promoter - RPN

This full-time position involves working 37.5 hours per week as a Health Promoter. The Health Promoter will deliver evidence-basedhealth and fitness programs to support patients in managing acute or chronic care needs. Programs will be individualized and group fitness programs.The position will be working with our Physiotherapist and Physiotherapy Assistant at our new 5,600 sq. ft. gym facility and working collaboratively with physicians and other FHT allied health professionals within the BCFHT.

Key Responsibilities:

Provides instruction, guidance and/or a demonstration to clients and patients on proper and safe exercise techniques and use of fitness machines, free weights and cardio equipment during personal training sessions or initial orientation sessions.

Develops, documents, and implements customized individual and group fitness programs which support the needs and goals of patients, members and the community.

Oversees patients and members during fitness activities to ensure that movements are being performed in a safe manner.

Monitors and documents patient and member progression and provides feedback, education, and advice to assist with safe achievement of goals.

Promotes Bancroft Fitness programs, and where appropriate, refers patients to other FHT providers.

Responds to and/or assists with on-site emergencies, incidents and accidents, which may involve the provision of Standard First Aid, CPR, the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and/or the completion of an accident/incident report, when required.

Completes periodic facility checks to ensure adherence to safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations.

Deliver Cardiac and Pulmonary rehabilitation programs.

Hydrotherapy exercise programs.

Qualifications/Experience:

• Must have one of the following:

Fitness and Health Promotion Diploma

Certified Exercise Physiologist

Personal Trainer Certification

RPN willing to obtain Personal Trainer Certification

• Experience working in a primary care setting is considered an asset
• Flexibility to respond to a fluctuating workload and changing environment
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Motivated professional who can work with minimal supervision
• Maintain standards of knowledge, skills, and participate in continuing education

The Bancroft Community FHT is a HOOPP (Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan) employer. This position is eligible for HOOPP.
