Schedule:
This position is on a 4 on 4 off rotation with evening shifts from 4:00pm to 12:00am, for an average of 28 hours weekly.
Pay:
Starting wage is $23.38 (includes provincial wage subsidy) plus $1.00 evening shift and $0.60 weekend differentials as applicable.

Position Summary:
The Housekeeper/Laundry Worker provides day-to-day cleaning and housekeeping for all resident suites, public areas and staff areas. Completes laundry and linen service for residents and kitchen staff, collects garbage and recyclables and cleans all Berwick furniture, soft and hard furnishings. Carries out duties in an efficient, friendly and courteous manner and demonstrates a respectful and caring approach to Berwick residents and staff.
The Housekeeper/Laundry Worker will be a flexible individual who enjoys multitasking and displays high energy, with the ability to encourage a comfortable, home-like environment for residents, team members, families, and visitors. Encourages and adheres to a holistic philosophy of wellness, recognizing that each resident is capable of, to varying degrees; making decisions about his/her life and is a partner in the decision-making process.
This position requires the person to work independently and is also a designated emergency responder for resident and building emergencies.
Qualifications/Experience:
- WHMIS Certification
- Related experience in the housekeeping field preference given to those with 1-2 years of experience in the hospitality industry
- First Aid and CPR
- Trained in proper lifting techniques and an ability to lift up to 25lbs, bend and perform repetitive movements
- Trained in handling emergency situations such as power outages, fire, earthquake and medical emergencies
- Demonstrates a commitment to providing the highest quality of customer service
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions with minimal supervision
- Ability to work with staff, as a team is essential
- Ability to communicate well in written and oral English
- Dependable, reliable, patient, honest, confidential and an ability to work with staff as a team are essential
- Police, courteous and must work well with seniors, the public
- Ability to demonstrate empathy and patience when working with residents and staff
Emergency Response Duties:
Follows established policies and protocols to provide initial emergency response in the event of a power outage, earthquake, fire, silent fire drill or resident emergency. Assess situation, provides assistance where appropriate, and contacts medical personnel/911 when required.
Note: *A criminal record check is required pursuant to the Criminal Records Review Act for working with vulnerable adults. Current TB test and proof of Covid-19 Vaccinations also required.
