Housekeeping / Laundry Summer Students

Valleyview Home is looking to hires two (2) summer students to work on a part time basis to help augment the workforce during the summer months.
Duration and Availability:
  • The duration of this contract will be approximately 4 months.
  • Must be available and willing to work weekdays and most weekends.
  • This will include scheduled shifts, call-ins, holidays, and weekends.
  • Shift times will be either 6:00 am – 2:00 pm or 6:30 am – 2:30 pm.
Position Description:
  • Performs varied tasks to ensure the provision of the Home's housekeeping program for resident’s rooms. Duties include, but are not limited to, cleaning, dusting and wet mopping floors, walls, windows, woodwork, furnishings, light fixtures, and washrooms - including fixtures.
  • Cleans dining rooms and serveries following meals.
  • Laundry duties may include sorting, handling, washing, drying, and folding linens and Residents’ personal clothing. Participates in the inventory of resident’s clothing, labelling same and tracing lost articles.
  • Deliver linens and residents’ personal clothing to the Resident home areas.
  • Verbally communicates and interacts with residents, supervisors, co-workers, family members, visitors, and other departments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a University or College program. Must have attended the previous school year full time and will be returning to the next school term full time.
Conditions of Employment:
  • Successful completion of a police record check with vulnerable sector clearance (dated within the last 6 months).
  • Satisfactory TB documentation.
  • Must meet all applicable provincial directives with respect to COVID-19 immunization/testing.
COVID-19 Information:
Please note students are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (min. 3 vaccinations) or provide proof of a medical contraindication or exemption from the first day a student attends Valleyview.
Remuneration: $19.68 per hour (2024 rate).
