Housing Maintenance Labourer

The Housing Maintenance Labourer is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and enhancing staff accommodations. This hands-on role ensures all assigned staff housing units are kept in excellent condition, providing a safe and comfortable living environment for all staff. You will perform a variety of maintenance tasks including painting, drywall repairs, basic plumbing and electrical work, as well as grounds upkeep.

• Conduct regular inspections of staff housing units to identify maintenance needs.
• Perform painting, drywall patching, light carpentry, minor plumbing and electrical repairs.
• Complete preventive maintenance on appliances, fixtures, and building systems.
• Assist with unit turnovers including deep cleaning, repairs, and furniture setup.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff tenants.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of exterior areas around staff housing.
• Perform snow removal, salting/sanding of walkways and parking lots in winter.
• Conduct basic landscaping duties such as mowing, weeding, and debris removal.
• Conduct regular health and safety checks of housing units.
• Assist with receiving/distributing shipments of housewares, linens, cleaning supplies.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections and maintenance tasks.
• Report any major repair needs or safety hazards to Housing Maintenance Manager/Housing Manager.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support upkeep of staff accommodations.

• Experience in building maintenance, repairs or related trade.
• Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and drywall repair
• Experience with groundskeeping equipment (mowers, trimmers, snow blowers)
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varied weather conditions
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Highly organized with ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Experience in residential property maintenance is an asset.
