OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

Our Administrator is a key supportive force in this effort, and we re currently seeking someone eager to take this opportunity. The ideal candidate for the role is a flexible problem-solver who has superb communication skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and a strong comprehension of confidentiality practices. This person should have experience thriving in a multi-faceted administrative role (primarily the areas of HR and Payroll, and including Office Administration), and who enjoys working in and supporting our leadership team handling a variety of duties in a professional environment. Reliability, effective multi-tasking, and strong decision-making ability are essential qualifications for this role.

WHAT YOU LL BE DOING IN THE ROLE:

Human Resources/Payroll Administration - Administer the company Human Resources (HR) needs including:

  • Manage basic HR administrative functions which include updating documentation, ensuring signoff on policies, assisting with background checks, supporting HR programs such as training and development, service anniversaries, as well as rewards and recognition programs.
  • Support the payroll process acting as backup for payroll processing.
  • Administer corporate systems and assist employees as necessary.
  • Carry out a variety of administrative duties, such as coordinating activities, functions, meetings, etc. Assist with documentation/presentations, and processing mail and package deliveries.
  • Administer business operations and resources to facilitate organizational effectiveness.
  • Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of company and team member information.
  • Perform other relevant duties when needed.

WHAT SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS YOU LL NEED TO DO THE JOB:

  • Preferred candidate will possess a degree/diploma in Human Resources Administration and/or Business Administration.
  • Preferred candidate will have a minimum of two (2) years of experience with HR/Payroll administration and/or two (2) years of business administration experience.
  • Technologically savvy, including advanced proficiency in the use of standard office equipment, MS Office suite, and other office productivity programs/tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage confidential information with integrity.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy of, and identify inconsistencies in, various documentation.
  • Strong multi-tasking, organizational, and time management skills; able to meet deadlines.
  • Flexible approach with ability to gather input and take appropriate action
  • Ability to understand the importance of processing information in a prompt, efficient manner and in accordance with legislation, policy, and procedure.
  • Ability to deal positively with change and willingness to embrace new working practices.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks/projects with minimal supervision.

Work Conditions/Environment:

  • Requirement to work full-time on-site in the Saint John, NB Mariner office.
  • Working hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (Monday to Friday) (40-hour work week with some after-hours work required).
  • Own vehicle for transportation is required.
