Quatsino is a progressive First Nation in search of an innovative Human Resourcesand Wellbeing Administrator who can help carry out the vision, objectives and strategic direction set by the Band Manager and Chief & Council through high operational standards, improvement of grass-roots level program delivery and policy development, and the implementation of greater local control over community-level services. The Human Resourcesand Wellbeing Administrator is responsible for the efficient coordination and management of all Human Resources programs and services.

- Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Understanding and complying with any Quatsino First Nation policies or position statements on cultural care (and ensuring it is reflected in individual training/professional development plans).
- Ensuring that plans, policies and activities undertaken promote and reflect the holistic well-being of the People of Quatsino in a way that incorporates and promotes the culture of the Quatsino and their Traditions.
- Using the principles of trauma informed leadership as pathway for empathy and compassion.
The Human Resource and Wellness Manager reports directly to the Band Manager. This position is responsible for providing information, advice, guidance, and training to employees, Supervisors, and Chief and Council on the full spectrum of Human Resource services and activities to support and drive both day-to-day and strategic Human Resource (HR) priorities. This will include but not be limited to recruitment and selection, labour relations, team building, training, compensation and benefits, performance management and career development, and employee retention activities.
Primary Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Recruitment and selection including workforce planning and staffing from entry-level to management positions.
- Develop, promoting, and administering personnel policies.
- Develop workplace wellbeing strategies to address risk areas. Strategies align to organisational objectives and have goals, measures, and targets.
- Design and deliver workplace wellbeing programs and initiatives.
- Locate and access funding to support HR and Wellbeing initiatives.
- Cultivate leadership capability and improve organisational health and Wellbeing literacy through learning and training programmes.
- Develop and manage a wellbeing support model with appropriate internal and external support.
- Measure employee wellbeing and evaluate workplace wellbeing programs and initiatives.
- Help Manage disciplinary actions, workplace injuries or accidents, and personnel matters.
- Develop, implementing, and evaluating policies, programs, and procedures for employees.
- Provide opportunities for training and development.
- Maintain confidential management of HR records.
- Ability to work well with all levels of internal staff under the direction of the Band Manager.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Human Resource Management, Administration, or related field.
- Ideally three years of recent related HR experience.
- Experience interpreting and advising on matters related to the Canada Labour Code and other applicable legislation.
- Clean criminal record check required.
