Job description

As our HR Administrator, you will report directly to the College’s President and will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our institution by overseeing all HR functions and fostering a culture of growth, learning, and excellence.

Position Responsibilities:

As the Human Resources Administrator, your primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Human Resources Strategy: Collaborate closely with the College’s academic and administrative leadership to develop a robust Human Resources strategy. This strategy will include initiatives to attract, retain, and develop top talent, ensuring the College’s continued growth and excellence.
  • Recruitment and Hiring: Lead the employee recruitment process, from developing job descriptions, posting job openings, conducting interviews, and selecting top candidates for our faculty and administrative staff.
  • Onboarding: Implement comprehensive onboarding processes to ensure new employees are well-acquainted with our HR and operational policies, fostering a seamless transition into our institution.
  • Training and Development: Establish regular HR-related training programs for existing employees to enhance their understanding of our policies and procedures. Develop training guides and processes for each department and conduct initial training for incoming staff.
  • Compliance & Policy Enhancement: Ensure the College’s compliance with employment laws and relevant regulations. Continuously review and improve our HR policies and procedures to ensure that they align with best practices and promote a harmonious work environment.
  • Workplace Health and Safety: Take a proactive role in managing workplace health and safety environment and WorkSafeBC compliance.
  • Performance Management: Collaborate with leadership to facilitate employee evaluations and feedback processes, helping our team members reach their full potential. Oversee the performance management process, including goal setting, performance reviews and performance development plans.
  • Assist with enhancing Employee Relations (i.e. dealing with employee issues/disputes).

Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you should possess the following qualifications:

  • Must have their Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CHRP) designation.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of progressively senior experience in a HR generalist and/or specialist function, inclusive of two (2) years of supervisory/management experience, are required.
  • Education sector experience is not mandatory but considered an asset.
  • Proven ability to proactively initiate and independently manage HR-related projects, showcasing a self-starting approach.
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment legislation, and policy development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with academic and administrative leadership.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong commitment to professional growth and development.
